Alice Engelbrink Houston, Chef Extraodinaire
Alice Engelbrink Houston spent many hours in the kitchen perfecting her tomato pie recipe. It has been a family favorite for years and was a requirement at every family gathering! The mix of savory spices and sweet tomatoes make it appealing to children and adults alike. While in a pinch, she would use store bought pie crusts, making her own was her preference. Here are some different recipes for pie crusts that she experimented with.
She used the Buttery Flaky Pie Crust recipe from of AllRecipes.com
In the summer, she would use heirloom tomatoes in her pie. www.edenbrothers.com is a wonderful wholesale seed company from which you can buy tomato seeds to start your own garden.
